2024 ICD-10-CM Updates

On June 16, 2023, CMS announced its annual ICD-10-CM updates, encompassing 395 new codes, 25 deleted codes, and 13 revised codes. Following this announcement, CMS promptly refreshed the 2024 addendum, tabular list, index, code tables, and code descriptions.
Code deletions in these updates occur when the existing code descriptions no longer accurately represent the changes and require expansion. A prime example is the current ICD-10-CM code set, which previously included a single code (G20) for reporting Parkinson's disease. However, with the updates this year, code G20 has been removed and replaced with the following:
